Building Bridges Across Generations: JKASW Organizes Intergenerational Dialogue in Bandipora
The Jammu & Kashmir Association of Social Workers (JKASW), under its flagship Koor Cha Noor Project, organized an Intergenerational Dialogue on 11 July 2025 at the Bandipora Auditorium, bringing together adolescent girls, parents, senior citizens, community leaders, and other stakeholders to foster meaningful conversations across generations.
The event was designed to bridge generational gaps by creating a safe and inclusive platform where participants could openly share their experiences, aspirations, and perspectives on the evolving roles of young people and elders in today’s society.
The programme featured engaging cultural performances, puppet shows, storytelling sessions, and interactive group discussions that encouraged dialogue between adolescents and older community members. Parents reflected on their life experiences, values, and expectations, while adolescent girls shared their dreams, challenges, and aspirations in an increasingly dynamic social environment.
Speakers emphasized the importance of strengthening communication within families, preserving cultural values, and ensuring that both younger and older generations feel respected, heard, and valued. They highlighted that meaningful dialogue between generations is essential for building stronger families, promoting mutual understanding, and preparing young people to navigate modern-day challenges while remaining connected to their cultural roots.
The event not only provided a platform for participants to express their thoughts but also encouraged empathy, trust, and collaboration between different generations. It reinforced the idea that sustainable communities are built when experience and youthful energy come together to shape a shared future.
Through initiatives like the Intergenerational Dialogue, JKASW continues to strengthen community relationships, promote social cohesion, and empower adolescents to become confident, compassionate, and responsible members of society.
